5 Stadiums I Drive Past Frequently As A Courier in London

As you know, Drift Couriers are a same day courier service in the UK, established in London and serving all of Britain. We specialise in urgent deliveries across cities nationwide, transporting a variety of goods every day. As a same day courier in London, it is expected that one would have a level of familiarity with different areas, much like a black taxi driver. Having grown up in London, some locations hold a level of sentiment and nostalgia, which I experience daily as I drive through them while delivering.

With that in mind, here is a list of five stadiums I frequently pass while delivering in London.

5) Chelsea – Stamford Bridge, Fulham

If I am finishing a delivery in Hammersmith, my route will often take me through Earl’s Court, and I will have Stamford Bridge loosely in my peripherals. It is just half a mile away if I take a right turn off Redcliffe Gardens onto Fulham Road. On drives home, it is not too bad to pass by, but if I am travelling along Fulham Road during peak hours, it can be a nightmare. Traffic builds up as roads lead to Putney Bridge, and the combination of mini roundabouts and road restrictions makes it difficult to escape congestion due to low traffic neighbourhoods at every turn.

4) Surrey Cricket Club – The Oval, Kennington

Although not a football stadium like the others on this list, The Oval is on my doorstep. Naturally, many same day parcel deliveries take us past the ground, as it is a key route connecting couriers from central London and Vauxhall to Brixton, Camberwell and Peckham. Recent road usage restrictions have made this route less desirable due to narrowing roads and heavy traffic build-up. Previously, it was possible to exit the main road and drive around The Oval to avoid congestion and connect to an alternative route. However, as local delivery experts, we ensure our urgent delivery services in Kennington and nearby areas remain efficient, whether it is a medical courier service or a document delivery.

3) Brentford – Gtech Stadium, Hammersmith

Easily visible while driving on the M4 Chiswick Flyover, this stadium serves as a familiar landmark. As a courier, I often use it as a visual indicator that I am back in London and approaching the delivery point, usually meaning traffic is about to become more congested. For couriers heading westbound out of London, it signifies the opposite. It is one of my favourite stadiums to drive past because it often marks the end of a long inbound delivery from Slough, Reading, Oxford or even as far as Bristol. The Sega Europe office, located right next to it, features a cool image of Sonic the Hedgehog, adding to the visual appeal. With Chiswick Park business complex nearby, our couriers frequently collect and deliver in this area.

2) Crystal Palace – Selhurst Park, Thornton Heath

Courier collections in Croydon are a daily occurrence for me and the team at Drift Couriers. It is no surprise that I frequently pass by Selhurst Park football ground in Thornton Heath while making deliveries. Fortunately, it is one of the few stadiums in London that is not consistently gridlocked with traffic, making it a reliable route for urgent deliveries in and around the Crystal Palace area. There are also some great food spots nearby, perfect for taking a break or refuelling. As a local courier in London, I have driven past Selhurst Park countless times without realising it, until I delivered to them specifically.

1) Millwall – The Den, Bermondsey

As a same day courier operating in London, I often drive past many landmarks. Some I love, while others hold personal significance. The Den in Bermondsey falls into the latter category. My brothers and I would often play football there on weekends and use the facilities in the centre, making it a place filled with nostalgia. Every time I drive past on my way to a parcel collection in Bermondsey, I take a quick glance at the stadium entrance on Ilderton Road. The surrounding area consists mainly of industrial and office spaces, so I am never far from memory lane when making deliveries in Bermondsey or passing through to reach the Rotherhithe Tunnel or avoid traffic heading to Deptford or Greenwich.

In summary every day delivering in and around London can come with a long list of views, attractions and challenges to navigate. As a leading same day courier, it’s not always a drive down memory lane. However our team always find a way to complete your urgent deliveries efficiently to keep things running smoothly whether delivering in a small van or larger trucks.
